We’ve helped keep Richard alive this long, but now Oklahoma is really serious: they’re going to execute Richard in less than 3 weeks, on Thursday, May 18. Unbelievably, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board just denied clemency, even though the Attorney General pleaded with them to spare Rich’s life. Feet fall soft on concrete ground Worn out shoes make no sound Feel so trapped, but I’m not bound I’m walking on my own again. Midnight air cold on the chest Muscles ache and beg for rest For this life, I have no zest I’m hiding from myself again. Upon a park bench in midday spring A rush of jubilance, I became. For I knew not what that moment would bring As she giggled and told me her name.
